ABOUT MS. SHAMIELAH REID
Ms. Shamielah Reid holds a Bachelor of Social Science in Environmental & Geographical Science, Sociology and Gender Studies from the University of Cape Town. She is currently a Climate Mitigation Assistant at the City of Cape Town Municipality, and her role is to support the development of Cape Town’s carbon neutral and climate resilient Climate Change Strategy and Action Plan. As the COY16 Country Coordinator for South Africa she collaborates with South African universities and climate-focused youth organizations to develop the National Youth Statement on Climate Change which will form part of the Global Policy Document presented at the COP26 Negotiation Process. She is also responsible for building key partnerships and sourcing financial sponsorship to carry out climate change initiatives and ensure South Africa’s delegation can attend the annual COY conference.

ABOUT MR. ASHLIN NAIDOO
Mr. Ashlin Naidoo holds a BSc. Honours degree in Environmental Sciences from the University of Kwa-Zulu Natal. His honours thesis was on the socio-economic impacts of solar water heaters in low-income households. He currently works for the City of Cape Town Municipality, under the Energy and Climate Change directorate. In his current role, he works in various fields related to the Municipality’s journey towards carbon neutrality by 2050. He is part of the Global support team for the UNMGCY SDG7 youth constituency and one of the country coordinators for the upcoming COY16 event. His work and passion are to support the fight against Climate Change and above all build a sustainable world.
ABOUT MRS. MAMELLO CHAUKE
Mrs. Mamello Chauke is a mechanical engineering graduate who has spent over two years at the CSIR working alongside engineers and scientists with decades of experience (Council for Scientific and Industrial Research). She earned a BEng in mechanical engineering from the University of Pretoria in 2019. During her time at university, she received an invitation to join the GOLDEN KEY INTERNATIONAL HONOUR SOCIETY. Mamello is a renewable energy expert, specializing in wind and solar energy, and is in charge of data analysis and modeling for renewable technologies. She has written two data analysis research papers for the SASEC and WindAc conferences. Mamello is dedicated to her work, and she works hard and succeeds thanks to her good attitude and never-ending energy. Mamello is inspired on a daily basis by her parents and her infant daughter. Mamello enjoys traveling, watching movies and series, and playing video games in her spare time.
